Seoul National University Station: Hambaksan Fried Rice and Ppaekdon Pork Rinds
Hello everyone! 🌼 It’s Bearppyu here! 💓
After work, I was absolutely craving meat, so I visited a famous Korean BBQ restaurant in Gwanak-gu.
Sharosu-gil’s Popular Eatery
I went to ‘Bbaekdon Main Branch’! 🎉
You’ll find us easily if you come from Seoul National University Station, Exit 1. We visited at 6 PM after making a Naver reservation. 😊

Following the map, you’ll arrive at this spot tucked away in a secluded alley. The very first thing that catches your eye is the neat exterior of Baekdon’s main branch!

Retro-style posters are dotted around the space.
The menu descriptions are incredibly witty and charming, drawing my eye even more. I just had an overwhelming urge to try everything on the menu! 🤗

Here’s the menu board! ⭐️
The combination set, in particular, looked so appealing that I spent quite some time deliberating. I even felt like it would be perfect for a day when I had a really big appetite. 💘 It was totally my style, as it offered a combination of various cuts to try.
As you can tell from the menu, this establishment specializes in using only the highest-grade, specialty cuts of pork. 💜

Interestingly, among the drinks, sikhye caught my eye. It looked absolutely perfect for dessert. To start, we ordered soju and Zero Coke.

The basic table setting is so neat and tidy.
Besides wasabi, garlic, and salt, they also prepare a variety of other side dishes! 🎀

The charcoal they use here is eucalyptus charcoal, which I found quite intriguing. I suppose that’s the secret to adding more flavor to the meat.🍀 I was also pleased with the generous serving of shredded green onions.

Pork Jowl (뽈살) – ₩11,000 per serving (2 servings ordered)
While I debated between the special cuts, I just couldn’t resist my curiosity about the flavor of pork cheek, so I ended up choosing it!
Just a quick note: meat orders are usually available starting from two servings.
A truly radiant appearance that’s clearly fresh.
It was my first time trying the cheek cut, so I was incredibly excited!

I carefully grilled them, three pieces at a time, making sure not to burn them. The garlic was also diligently grilling right alongside.

As the meat started to cook, I cut it up into bite-sized pieces.
Doesn’t it look perfectly golden brown and incredibly delicious? 🙏
Can you practically feel the juices bursting out?!

My friend grilled the meat so perfectly that the outside was incredibly crispy, and the inside was bursting with juices. It was the ultimate ‘crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside’ experience! 🥰

I highly recommend this combination: salt and wasabi, used in moderation!
While the sauce with watercress was also tasty, this particular pairing really seemed to highlight the meat’s natural flavor. 👍
The cheek meat had a unique texture – it was tender yet delightfully firm and chewy.

Dirty Bomb Steamed Egg Custard (₩7,000)
From the name to the visuals, it’s seriously something else, right? 🤭 It was puffed up as if it were angry, but it was definitely a dish I’m so glad I ordered.
Personally, this one was so my style!
The egg was incredibly fluffy and soft, and on top, it was generously covered with sweet and tangy sauces like ketchup and mayonnaise. 💛

And with cheese added to the mix? That just seals the deal!
This “Bomb Steamed Egg Custard” (Poktan Gyeranjjim) is absolutely loaded with all sorts of delicious ingredients!
It was sweet and savory perfection (dan-jjan) – a flavor I just couldn’t stop thinking about!
Hambaksan Fried Rice 10,000
The indispensable fried rice when you’re having meat! 💕
Naturally, I ordered it without a moment’s hesitation, haha.
An incredibly appetizing amount of cheese came generously oozing out.

Cheese and Kimchi Fried Rice combo? Say no more! 🩷
The sweet yet umami-rich Kimchi Fried Rice, especially when enjoyed with some meat, is simply the best.

Bbaekdon Pork Rind 7,000 KRW
This is actually what brought me here.
You see, I’m a complete pork rind fanatic!
I heard this place was a renowned spot for pork rind, and doesn’t it look scrumptious just from its honeycomb pattern? 😊
It’s pre-grilled once before being served. Then, all you have to do is cut it right away, place it on the grill, and cook it to your liking.

The exterior was crispy, and the interior was incredibly chewy! It was the quintessential grilled pork skin experience! 😘

If I get the chance, I’m already thinking about visiting again to try different dishes. I’d love to get your recommendations for what you’ve tried! And for those who haven’t quite ventured into the world of gourmet food yet, why not take this opportunity to visit?
I’ve compiled everything I ate that day into one post.
Looking at it again, my mouth is watering all over again!
Whenever I get a craving for pork, this place is definitely the first that comes to mind. 🌿
For anyone with plans or on a date near Seoul National University Station,
and for those craving Korean BBQ on Sharosu-gil,
this place is perfect! It’s ideal for group gatherings, boasts a wonderful atmosphere, and the food is simply superb. Highly recommended! ⚘️
I’ll definitely have to come back soon to de-stress after work. Next time, I’d love to try other cuts like pork jowl and pork neck meat! 😋 This is my honest, self-funded review. 💚
