Anyang Sammaksa: Ssam Doduk – Irresistible Korean Wraps
Hey everyone, it’s Bearppu!🐻
Last weekend, my mom and I visited a famous Korean restaurant.
It turned out to be the perfect spot for taking older family members.
We went to ‘Ssamdoduk,’ a popular restaurant in the Sammaksa area!💕
I took a quick drive over there. I visited around noon on a weekend, and I think I only waited about 10 minutes! The staff also did a great job helping with parking, which was a huge plus.
It’s a shop surrounded by lush greenery 🌿. They even had an A-frame sign. I loved how its exterior blended seamlessly with nature.

Here’s how things work once you step inside:
Head straight to the counter right in front of you. Simply tell them your party size and what you’d like to order, and you’ll be all set for the waitlist!
Just a heads-up: this place doesn’t take reservations. 🤗

I loved how spacious and beautiful the waiting area was. Time just flew by while I was looking around at this and that.

On the wall were food photos and their descriptions. All three looked so yummy, didn’t they? 🎀

Once it’s your turn, you’ll be guided upstairs to your seating. On one side of the self-service bar, you’ll find items like *Miyeokguk* (seaweed soup), *Wugeoji-jijim* (braised dried outer cabbage leaves), *Ssamjang* (savory dipping sauce), and more.

And voilà! Ssamdoduk offers all-you-can-eat ssam (lettuce wraps)! 😄
We have a wide variety of fresh vegetables ready for you! Simply take as much as you’d like.
Plus, the basic side dishes are also endlessly refillable at our self-service bar! 🩷

Here are the basic side dishes.
True to a trendy traditional Korean restaurant, they were served incredibly clean and beautifully arranged.
I particularly enjoyed the seasoned deodeok and cauliflower! 🤤

I loved that each table had these food description cards.
Bori Gulbi, a dried yellow croaker aged with barley – I’m already so excited for it! 🥰

Here’s the food we ordered! We each picked a set meal. We were amazed by the sheer abundance of food – enough to make the table legs buckle!

Traditional Ssam Set with Hearty Soybean Paste Stew – KRW 18,000
This was exactly the meal I had been craving!
As soon as we sat down, the food was served promptly, and this particular dish was especially piping hot, which was wonderful.
Surprisingly, it contained clam meat! It was delightfully chewy, savory, and utterly delicious. 🤭
I scooped out a generous helping. You can almost smell that savory aroma from here, can’t you? 🧡 It was packed with meat and had a delightfully savory flavor that really whetted my appetite.

I tried making ssam (lettuce wraps) with black rice, topped generously with gang-doenjang.
The moment I took a bite, its deep, rich flavor filled my mouth.
The clam meat added a delightful chewiness, making it absolutely perfect.
It was truly the epitome of ssam-bap! 💕

Jeyuk Bulgogi Ssamjeongsik – ₩18,000
Doesn’t this Jeyuk, perfectly stir-fried in its vibrant red sauce, just look absolutely mouth-watering?
They must use excellent quality meat because it wasn’t tough at all – it was incredibly tender!
The quality was top-notch! 👍

Just one look and you know it’s impossibly delicious! ❤️ It had just the right amount of spice, making it a perfect match with the fresh greens for wraps.

I made a big, generous ssam and took a bite!
I think it was almost my first time eating Jeyuk-bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork) wrapped in ssam.
It wasn’t too overpowering and felt healthy, with a delightful balance of spicy kick and satisfying chewiness. My mom even said it suited her palate perfectly! 💘

**Borigulbi Ssamjeongsik: ₩30,000**
This was the dish my mom had been wanting to try!
It’s much chewier than regular gulbi, and perhaps because it’s aged with barley, it doesn’t have any of that fishy odor. It was absolutely perfect for my palate!
Cool green tea was prepared on the side, and I was a bit puzzled about it. I poured it into a large bowl, like a soup bowl, and almost just picked it up and drank it! 😂 But it turns out, it’s actually meant for pouring over rice and eating! 👍

It’s absolutely heavenly when you eat rice soaked in green tea, topped with a piece of gulbi! My mom showed me this way to enjoy it, and I gave it a try. The delightful contrast between the cold, slightly bitter green tea and the warm, salty gulbi harmonized perfectly in my mouth, bringing me such joy. 🍵🐠

Right by the counter, they were also selling various side dishes, all conveniently pre-packaged. The dishes looked so neat and thoughtfully prepared, they really caught my eye.
We’ve captured our meal in detail on video.
The food and atmosphere were just perfect for taking our parents along! We were absolutely delighted! 💛
As expected from a place called Ssamdoduk (Ssam Thief), I truly enjoyed a meal featuring a delightful variety of ssam! 🎈 It was a truly delicious and unpretentious Korean restaurant that you can comfortably enjoy. With its impressive tender flavors that pair perfectly with a variety of ssam, this place is definitely worth a visit! 💓
This place seems like the perfect spot for family gatherings, a date night, or even an important occasion.
I highly recommend it to all Korean food lovers! 🎀
Next time I visit, I plan to try the Grilled Mackerel Ssamjeongsik and the Burdock Bulgogi Ssamjeongsik.
Until next time, I’ll be back with another fresh and delicious spot to share.
Have a wonderful day, everyone! 🌼
