Metdolroman at Lotte Department Store Gwanak Branch: A Review for the Boramae Hospital Area’s Popular Eatery (with Parking Information)

Hi everyone, this is Bear Ppyu! 🥰
Today, my partner and I visited the Lotte Department Store Gwanak Branch, which is located near Boramae Hospital. While we were there, we stopped by Metdolloman Lotte Department Store Gwanak Branch for lunch, a restaurant known as a popular spot near Boramae Hospital.
Here’s my review! 💓
This was absolutely the perfect spot when I was craving a comforting and healthy Sundubu-jjigae! What really stood out were the generous banchan (side dishes) and the unlimited soft tofu refills – they were simply the best! On top of that, using tofu made fresh in-house made it even nuttier and more delicious.
Metdolloman: Popular Restaurant Near Boramae Hospital – Location and Directions

For those looking for a delicious meal near Boramae Hospital, pay attention!
Metdolroman at Lotte Department Store Gwanak branch offers excellent accessibility. Located in the food court on B2 (Basement 2) of Lotte Department Store Gwanak, it’s perfect for a meal before or after your shopping trip! We visited after our appointment at Boramae Hospital, and its proximity to the hospital made it incredibly convenient. If you’re coming by subway, it’s just a 2-3 minute walk from Exit 2 of Dangok Station on the Sinlim Line!
Please note that it tends to get quite busy during lunchtime. In contrast, the evening atmosphere was relatively relaxed. A significant advantage is its location within Lotte Department Store, which offers convenient parking (up to 2 hours).
A store atmosphere defined solely by millstones.
Maetdolroman, located within a food court, offered a spacious and pleasant environment, allowing for a comfortable dining experience. The ability to enjoy a variety of dishes together was also a huge plus!
The tables were generously spaced, which allowed us to eat comfortably without worrying about other guests. They also had high chairs available, making it a great place to visit with children.

The large millstone in the center of the store immediately catches your eye, and apparently, you can actually see the beans being ground right there! Unfortunately, it wasn’t in operation when we visited. You can imagine that seeing the millstone in action would somehow give a greater sense of freshness and health.

And now, for Maetdolroman’s highlight!
The self-serve Sundubu (soft tofu) corner, available when each person orders one main dish!
You can enjoy warm and silky soft sundubu, and the biggest advantage is that you can have unlimited refills to your heart’s content.
Drizzle some soy sauce seasoning over it, and it’s truly devoured in no time!
What’s more, okara (soybean pulp) is available for free takeaway, so you can even make okara stew at home. If you love okara, be sure to pick some up! It comes neatly packaged in containers, allowing you to take it home cleanly.
Stone-Ground Menu and Prices

At Maetdolroman, you can enjoy a wide array of bean-based dishes. With a diverse selection of Sundubu Jjigae (soft tofu stews), along with Cheonggukjang (fermented soybean paste stew), Kongbiji Jjigae (soybean dregs stew), and Tofu Jeongshik (tofu set meals), it was truly a paradise for our couple, who absolutely adore tofu.
The prices range from around 9,000 to 14,000 won, which I consider reasonable given that it’s a food court meal. These days, with the cost of living rising significantly, eating out can feel like a burden. However, Mael-dol-ro-man was satisfying in terms of both its price and taste.

Pan-fried Tofu Set Meal 13,000
We ordered my partner’s favorite, the Dubu Buchim Jeongshik (Pan-fried Tofu Set Meal), for 13,000 won. This special set includes pan-fried tofu (dubu buchim) and stir-fried kimchi (bokkeum kimchi) served alongside their standard Sundubu-jjigae (soft tofu stew made with traditional stone-ground tofu)! Please note that this menu is available for a minimum of two people. You can swap it for a different menu option for an additional fee.

Millstone Soft Tofu Stew, two thick pieces of pan-fried tofu, stir-fried kimchi, three kinds of basic side dishes, and even rice! Quite a generous spread, isn’t it?
The pan-fried tofu, made with 100% domestically grown, handmade tofu, had a perfect ‘crispy on the outside, moist on the inside’ texture. Combined with its savory and nutty flavor, it was truly delicious. The generous thickness of the tofu made it even more satisfying.

Paired with stir-fried kimchi, it truly makes you devour your rice! The Maetdol Sundubu Jjigae was even more delicious, featuring a clean and refreshing broth complemented by the addition of clams and an egg.

The sundubu was so incredibly soft and fluffy, it practically melted in my mouth! The rice was also wonderfully chewy and delicious. And the banchan (side dishes) were impeccably prepared and tasty, so I ended up polishing off every single thing without leaving a crumb.
If you’re looking for a delicious meal near Boramae Hospital or Lotte Department Store Gwanak branch, I highly recommend Matdolroman! I was truly satisfied with their delicious soybean dishes, offered in generous portions at reasonable prices. Especially if you love soft tofu, make sure to take advantage of the unlimited soft tofu refills and complimentary soybean pulp service! It’s also a great spot for family dining!
